Who We Are
Chapter One is an early-stage venture capital fund dedicated to helping seed-stage companies find their product-market fit. Our team is built from former product, data science, and design leaders who shaped some of the most iconic companies of the current internet era – Twitter, Tinder, Robinhood, and Scale AI, to name a few.
You’d work alongside Jeff Morris Jr., who founded Chapter One, and is the former VP of Revenue at Tinder, leading the team from $20m to $1.2b. Jamesin Seidel, former lead data scientist at Twitter and professional sports bettor, and Alex Labossiere, lead at IBM.
While our headquarters are in Los Angeles, we invest globally, with team members in LA, NY, London, and Austin, TX.
What We're Looking For
We have two distinct internship tracks available:
1. Core Software Research Analyst Intern
In this role, you'll dive deep into the broader tech ecosystem, helping us identify and evaluate the next generation of startups. You'll be on the front lines of tech innovation, analyzing market trends, competitive landscapes, and helping us make informed investment decisions.

2. Blockchain Research Analyst Intern
This role is exclusively focused on our blockchain research and investments. We've been early backers of companies like Compound Finance, Dapper Labs, EtherFi, Helius, The Graph, Hyperbolic, Farcaster, Nillion, Ondo, and Starknet. If you're passionate about Web3, DeFi, and the future of decentralized technologies, this is where you'll thrive.

What You'll Be Doing
As a Research Analyst Intern at Chapter One, you'll:
Conduct deep dives into emerging industry trends and prepare comprehensive research reports.
Analyze potential investment opportunities, including market analysis and competitive landscape assessments.
Craft detailed investment memos highlighting risks, opportunities, and key metrics
Stay ahead of industry trends and provide actionable insights to our team.
Support our investment team in due diligence processes and data analysis.
Collaborate on refining investment theses and contribute to our overall strategy.
Juggle multiple research projects while delivering high-quality work under tight deadlines.
For the Blockchain-focused role, you'll also be analyzing DeFi ecosystems, Layer 1 and Layer 2 solutions, tokenomics, and on-chain data.

This is a remote-friendly internship with flexible hours.
Compensation will be competitive and based on your experience.
You'll gain invaluable exposure to the VC world and emerging tech spaces.
You'll work directly with our experienced team of investors and operators.
Summer internship with start date late-May / early June and end date mid-August.
